Future collaboration
Our project will end at the end of the school year. The collaboration among project partners has been fruitful and smooth. A good option to continue with our collaboration with teachers and students is the schools joining the BSP network. The UNESCO Baltic Sea Project (BSP) is an international network and a part of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet). Schools and all partners in the BSP are working together to build a sustainable future according to the United Nations’s Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The BSP stands for global citizenship education, a culture of peace and non-violence, sustainable development goals, sustainable lifestyles and wishes to enhance intercultural learning with the appreciation of cultural diversity and heritage in all the countries in the Baltic Sea region. The BSP offers various activities for approximately 200 schools around the Baltic Sea.

The Baltic Sea Video Challenge
During the online meeting, the project coordinator introduced The Baltic Sea Video Challenge activity which be launched in January 2026. All partner schools will be invited to participate in the video challenge. The Baltic Sea Video Challenge encourages educators and students across the Baltic Sea region to showcase the life of their local waterfront – marine or freshwater – by creating a short video (2–3 minutes) and sharing it via an educational platform. The videos will form the basis of lectures, in which scientists explain the regional characteristics of the Baltic Sea. Invite other students to visit your unique shoreline!
Why Participate? You can be part of a collaborative learning experience! Network with other schools across the Baltic Sea from coast up to inland waters! Join the European School Education Platform!
Next project steps and new meeting dates for project meeting in Latvia
In our project, the partner schools have produced material for different theme days to be celebrated in schools. You can find the material for the theme days here:
The dates for the project meeting in Latvia have been changed. Our last project meeting will take place in Balvi 13-17 April 2026. In the project, the participants has had the possibility to visit all project countries. During the project meetings, the project participants have got to know the local culture and language, and the participating students have work together in different workshops to learn more about the sustainability in the Baltic Sea region and about the protection of the Baltic Sea.
The absolutely best thing of our Nordplus Junior project Our Baltic Sea is how it brings students from across the Baltic region together through meaningful, real-world activities that combine environmental education, cultural exchange, and active citizenship!
